LITHUANIAN VISA

The foreigners wishing to come to Lithuania for a long-term visit must obtain a visa. A foreign citizen, if he has a national visa (D), can enter the Republic of Lithuania and stay in it for the time specified in the visa (not less than 91 days and not more than a year). A national visa is issued to foreigners who come to Lithuania for work, study, professional activities, etc.

LITHUANIAN VISA

The foreigners wishing to come to Lithuania for a long-term visit must obtain a visa. Investment visa

You can obtain a national multiple-entry visa if you come to the Republic of Lithuania to carry out lawful activities and You are a participant of a company incorporated in the Register of Legal Entities which was established during the one year preceding the date of application for your national visa, if the equity value of the company (in the case of a non-public company and a non-private limited company – assets) is at least 28 thousand euros, of which at least 14 thousand euros are Your invested funds or other assets.

You must submit the following documents in order to obtain a national visa:

1. the application for a national visa, made using the electronic application form.

The application form shall be completed in Latin characters and printed on paper together with the visa application documents. The application form can be completed on the website https://visa.vrm.lt/epm.

2. the valid travel document;

The valid travel document must meet the following requirements:

  • it must have been issued within the last ten years;
  • it must contain at least two blank pages;
  • it must have a period of validity of at least 3 months longer than that of the visa applied for.

3. 1 colourful photo (35×45 mm);

4. the document of incorporation or acquisition of a company established not earlier than one year before the date of submission of Your application for a national visa (the document regarding the registration of legal person in the Register of Legal Persons is not required to be submitted to the Branch of the Migration Department or Migration Department);

5. the document certifying that the value of the equity of the company (in the case of a non-public limited liability company or a private limited liability company – assets) is at least LTL 28 thousand. (e.g., Interim Financial Statements (Balance Sheet or Statement of Changes in Equity);

6. the document stating that You are a member of the company and that the funds or assets You invested in the company amount to at least EUR 14 thousand;

7. the document regarding the sufficient means of subsistence (e.g., a current bank statement or employment contract);

The amount of the means of subsistence is 1 minimum monthly salary per month, the amount of return funds is 1 minimum monthly salary.

8. the document certifying health insurance valid during the period of Your stay in Lithuania and in all Schengen States;

The health insurance must cover the cost of emergency medical care as defined by the Law on the Health System of the Republic of Lithuania and payment of the costs that the foreigner may incur as a result of the foreigner’s return to a foreign country for medical reasons (transportation, including escort of personal health care professional (s)). The sum of the insurance must be at least 30,000 euros.

You have to pay a fee of EUR 60.

If You are exempt from the tax in the cases provided for by law, You must provide documentation proving these circumstances.

You must apply for a national visa to:

  • the Lithuanian Embassy or via the external service provider’s visa application centre if you are abroad;
  • Vilnius, Kaunas or Klaipėda branches of the Migration Department if You are legally in Lithuania.

The decision to issue a national visa shall be taken within 15 calendar days of the date of acceptance of the application. This period may be extended up to a maximum of 30 calendar days in individual cases. Exceptionally, where additional documentation is required in specific cases, this period may be extended up to a maximum of 60 calendar days.

Nota bene:

  • the national visa is issued for a maximum period of one year;
  • the national visa is issued for a period of at least 91 days, unless the application for a national visa is made in the Republic of Lithuania;
  • If You have been issued with a 1 year national visa or multiple national visas with a total validity of 1 year and You intend to apply for a temporary residence permit You should apply for it in advance – 2 – 4 months before the expiry of the existing national visa.

The health insurance must cover the cost of emergency medical care as defined by the Law on the Health System of the Republic of Lithuania and payment of the costs that the foreigner may incur as a result of the foreigner’s return to a foreign country for medical reasons (transportation, including escort of personal health care professional (s)). The sum of the insurance must be at least 30,000 euros.

You have to pay a fee of EUR 60.

If You are exempt from the tax in the cases provided for by law, You must provide documentation proving these circumstances.

You must apply for a national visa to:

  • the Lithuanian Embassy or via the external service provider’s visa application centre if You are abroad;
  • Vilnius, Kaunas or Klaipėda branches of the Migration Department if You are legally in Lithuania.

Student visa

You can obtain a national multiple-entry visa.

You must submit the following documents:

1. the application for a national visa, made using the electronic application form.

2. the valid travel document;

The valid travel document must meet the following requirements:

  • it must have been issued within the last ten years;
  • it must contain at least two blank pages;
  • it must have a period of validity of at least 3 months longer than that of the visa applied for.

3. 1 colourful photo (35×45 mm);

4. the electronically submitted letter of mediation from a higher education institution (the number of the letter of mediation is given to the visa authority);

The letter of mediation is provided through the Information System of Public Services Relating to Issuing of Personal and Other Documents, Consultation, Provision to Citizens and Foreigners in the Republic of Lithuania (EPIS).

5. the document regarding the sufficient means of subsistence and return;

The amount of the means of subsistence is 0.5 of the minimum monthly salary per month, the amount of return to the country of origin or the foreign country to which you are entitled to travel amount funds is 1 minimum monthly salary.

6. the document certifying the health insurance valid during the period of Your stay in Lithuania and in all Schengen States. The proof of the health insurance shall be provided at the request of the visa authority.

The health insurance must cover the cost of emergency medical care as defined by the Law on the Health System of the Republic of Lithuania and payment of the costs that the foreigner may incur as a result of the foreigner’s return to a foreign country for medical reasons (transportation, including escort of personal health care professional (s)). The sum of the insurance must be at least 30,000 euros.

You have to pay a fee of EUR 60.

You must apply for a national visa to:

The total period of validity of several multiple-entry visas shall be calculated on the basis of a previous multiple-entry visa, if from the end of its period of validity less than 180 days have passed since the start of the validity period;
  • If You have been issued with a 1 year national visa or multiple national visas with a total validity of 1 year and You intend to apply for a temporary residence permit, in order to remain in Lithuania during the examination of the application You should apply for it in advance – 2 – 4 months before the expiry of the existing national visa.

If You come to the Republic of Lithuania to study under international or student exchange programs established by a higher education institution registered and operating in the Republic of Lithuania and a foreign higher education institution, You may obtain a national multiple-entry visa.

You must submit the following documents:

1. the application for a national visa, made using the electronic application form.

The application form shall be completed in Latin characters and printed on paper together with the visa application documents. The application form can be completed on the website https://visa.vrm.lt/epm.

2. the valid travel document;

The valid travel document must meet the following requirements:

  • it must have been issued within the last ten years;
  • it must contain at least two blank pages;
  • it must have a period of validity of at least 3 months longer than that of the visa applied for.

Work visa

You can obtain a multiple entry national visa if You have a work permit issued by the Employment Service.

Your employer must contact the territorial office of the Employment Service in order that a work permit to be issued for You.

Once You have Your work permit, You can apply for a national visa and submit the following documents:

1. the application for a national visa, made using the electronic application form.

The application form shall be completed in Latin characters and printed on paper together with the visa application documents. The application form can be completed on the website https://visa.vrm.lt/epm.

2. the valid travel document;

The valid travel document must meet the following requirements:

  • it must have been issued within the last ten years;
  • it must contain at least two blank pages;
  • it must have a period of validity of at least 3 months longer than that of the visa applied for.

3. 1 colourful photo (35×45 mm);

4. the letter of mediation submitted electronically by the employer (the number of the letter of mediation is given to the visa authority);

The letter of mediation is provided through the Information System of Public Services Relating to Issuing of Personal and Other Documents, Consultation, Provision to Citizens and Foreigners in the Republic of Lithuania (EPIS).

5. the work permit;

6. the document regarding the sufficient means of subsistence (e.g., a bank statement, an employment contract);

The amount of the means of subsistence is 1 minimum monthly salary per month, the amount of return to the country of origin or the foreign country to which you are entitled to travel funds is 1 minimum monthly salary.

The document certifying that you have sufficient funds (bank certificate) and / or regular income to live in the Republic of Lithuania and to return to your country of origin or to a foreign country to which you are entitled may be submitted in the original English language or an English translation of this document, written in another language, may be provided (authenticity of copies must be certified by a person or body having the right to authenticate copies of documents). If necessary, this document must be translated into Lithuanian or into another language specified by the visa officer.

7. the document certifying health insurance valid during the period of Your stay in Lithuania and in all Schengen States. The proof of health insurance shall be provided at the request of the visa authority.

The health insurance must cover the cost of emergency medical care as defined by the Law on the Health System of the Republic of Lithuania and payment of the costs that the foreigner may incur as a result of the foreigner’s return to a foreign country for medical reasons (transportation, including escort of personal health care professional (s)). The sum of the insurance must be at least 30,000 euros.

You can obtain a multiple entry national visa.

You can obtain a national visa if you come to work (not highly qualified job) and have a profession which is included in The List of Professions that Are in Short Supply the Republic of Lithuania by economic activity;

Note. The visa authority has the right to request a document certifying Your qualification.

This document must be legalized or certified by an Apostille, except for a document issued in Ukraine, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, or Moldova.
